Berlin, January 6, 2022 – The Document Foundation announces LibreOffice 7.2.5 Community, the fifth minor release of the LibreOffice 7.2 family, which is available on the download page.

This version includes 90 bug fixes and improvements to document compatibility. The changelogs provide details of the fixes: changes in RC1 and changes in RC2.

Berlin, December 6, 2021 – The Document Foundation announces LibreOffice 7.2.4 Community and LibreOffice 7.1.8 Community to provide a key security fix. Releases are immediately available from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/, and all LibreOffice users are recommended to update their installation. Both new version include the fixed NSS 3.73.0 cryptographic library, to solve CVE-2021-43527 (the nss secfix is the only change compared to the previous version).

Most significant new features of LibreOffice 7.2

LibreOffice 7.2 Community provides a large number of interoperability improvements with Microsoft’s proprietary DOCX/XLSX/PPTX file formats: Writer tables (better import/export and management of table functions, and better support for change tracking in floating tables); management of cached field results in Writer; support of spacing below the header’s last paragraph in DOC/DOCX files; and additional SmartArt improvements when importing PPTX files.

In addition, LibreOffice 7.2 Community offers numerous performance improvements in handling large files, opening certain DOCX and XLSX files, managing font caching, and opening presentations and drawings that contain large images. There are also drawing speed improvements when using the Skia back-end that was introduced with LibreOffice 7.1.

LibreOffice 7.2 Community is also available natively for Apple Silicon, a series of processors designed by Apple and based on the ARM architecture. Because of the early stage of development on this specific platform, binaries are provided but should not be used for critical purposes.
