The Document Foundation announces LibreOffice 3.6.6
Berlin, April 11, 2013 – The Document Foundation (TDF) announces LibreOffice 3.6.6, for Windows, MacOS and Linux, targeted to enterprises and individual end users who prefer stability to more advanced features. This new release is suited to the increasing number of organizations migrating to LibreOffice, which is steadily growing worldwide.
LibreOffice users, free software advocates and community members can support The Document Foundation with a donation. There is a donation page – with many options including PayPal and credit cards – at http://donate.libreoffice.org, to support the growth of the project in areas such as infrastructure, marketing and development of native language communities.
LibreOffice 3.6.6 is available for immediate download from the following link: http://www.libreoffice.org/download/. Extensions for LibreOffice are available from the following link: http://extensions.libreoffice.org/extension-center.

There’s just one curiosity I still have: the 50 bugs fixed in this release will be fixed also in 4.x releases or they are not present? Thanks 🙂

Hello, I’m new to LibreOffice. I’ve download version 4.0.2 from the link at your front page. Why there is version 3.6.6 now? Which is the latest version or What’s the difference between them? Thank you.
Both are available, as we provide a bleeding edge version (4.0.2) and a conservative version (3.6.6) targeted to users who prefer stability over features, especially in enterprise environments. Providing two version is a feature, and not an issue.

I change from version 4 to 3.6.6, I want a stable version more than a bleeding edge version. The default link on front page is for version 4. If you want to get version 3.6.6, you need to click the link “Change System, Version or Language”.
I have been using LibreOffice for a while but have stopped using it due to poor PowerPoint Compatibility. I have opened 3 bugs, which have been ackowledged , status NEW, but over a year later, no fixes (BUGS 49175, 48885, 47420)
I would love to use LibreOffice for my job which involves PowerPoint presenting, but I can’t, what can I do to get these bugs fixed?

is there any Chance to get 3.6.6 as a portable application? Or should I rather ask on PA.com? It would be nice to have a portable, nearly bug-free and truly “rock solid” version of LO.
Since 4.0.2 crashes on install with “part missing” on my Win 7 64 bit i would like to install 3.6.6 but i cant find the download. How can i do this?
One way you can do this is to follow an encrypted path (https) to your desired download page according to your system type. Once you get the download site information, it’ll be up to you to force an encrypted download if so desired. One way of following the encrypted path is:
01. Start at the home page ( https://www.libreoffice.org/ ).
02. Click on “Main website” located at the bottom of the home page.
03. You should now be at the default main page ( https://www.libreoffice.org/default/ ).
04. Click on “Download” located within the green menu bar near the top of the page.
05. You should now be at the “Download LibreOffice” page ( https://www.libreoffice.org/download/ ).
06. Click on “Change System, Version or Language” written in green text at the end of the first paragraph, located just below the title; “Download LibreOffice”.
07. You should now be at the “Download LibreOffice” page ( https://www.libreoffice.org/download/?nodetect ).
08. Click on a link written in green text, representing your Operating System – “Windows”, for example, as in your case.
09. You should now be at a page asking you to select your preferred language.
10. Click on a link written in green text, representing your preferred language.
11. You should now be at a page listing the current available LibreOffice releases.
12. Click on a link written in green text, representing your preferred release.
13. Here you’ll need to decide which download method you’ll be using and proceed from there.
14. For Torrent downloads, you can click on “Torrent”. Otherwise, click on “Info”, and choose your download site from there. The “Info” page lists download mirrors and Hash information.
I’d ask AGAIN, for the LibreOffice (LO) crew to be EXPLICIT about which is the current “stable version”, at the download page. Currently it is too ambiguous and serves to frustrate, and potentially turn away new adopters of LO.

What did you guys do to “speed” LibreOffice in version 4.x?
Its load makes my i5 CPU run at 25% for 10 to 25 seconds on a 8GB-SSD Win7 64-bit machine.
LibreOffice 3.6.x loads any file of any size in 2 seconds or less.
Same hardware-software configuration.
Same testing hour after clean install and cold reboot.
What gives?
Don’t ask/tell me to report the bug, I’d like to understand the problem via a clear non-commercial answer/explanation.
In case I should modify my machine configuration, if any.

PS. I’m a writer more than an accountant (smiley) but loading 7 to 9 files of any size with v.3.6 goes faster than 1 light or empty file in v.4.0…
