Here’s our summary of updates, events and activities in the LibreOffice project in the last four weeks – click the links to learn more… We started August by posting the full version of TDF’s Annual Report 2022. The Document Foundation is the non-profit entity behind LibreOffice, and our report highlights community and project activities in the previous year. Check it out! Next up was a double gift from the LibreOffice documentation team: Impress Guide 7.5 and Draw Guide 7.5. Big thanks to everyone who helped to update the guides 👍 Our native-language communities use Weblate to translate LibreOffice’s user interface. Thanks to donations, The Document Foundation has been able to fund some Weblate improvements, to help all users. The Debian Project was officially founded by Ian Murdock 30 on August 16, 1993. The Debian Community celebrates its birthday, Debian Day, on this day each year. And we celebrated 30 years with them, as they are one of the organizations supporting the LibreOffice project since day one. The biggest news in August was the release of LibreOffice 7.6, with a bunch of new features and updates. Many thanks to all community members, developers and ecosystem companies that contributed to this release!

Here’s our summary of updates, events and activities in the LibreOffice project in the last four weeks – click the links to learn more… We started June by announcing the LibreOffice Conf Asia x UbuCon Asia 2023, in Indonesia, an event that brings together Linux and Open Source Software (OSS) activists, contributors, users, communities, and businesses in the Asia region. It will take place from 6 – 8 October 2023 – find out more here! Meanwhile, LibreOffice project volunteers received a cool tribute from the Mexican “Instituto Integración Down”. Nice 👍 Next up: we announced the winners in the Month of LibreOffice, May 2023. Sticker packs and extra merchandise are on their way… On June 8, TDF announced LibreOffice 7.5.4 Community, the fourth minor update to the 7.5 family. How can we make LibreOffice and the Thunderbird email client work better together? That’s a question we asked, and we posted some ideas from our communities. Let’s make them happen! At the upcoming LibreOffice Conference 2023, there’ll be a workshop about getting started with development of the suite. Here’s our summary of updates, events and activities in the LibreOffice project in the last four weeks – click the links to learn more… We started May with the Month of LibreOffice! This is a campaign that we run twice a year, encouraging users to join our community and help to improve the software. Everyone can learn new things – and get some merchandise as thanks! Results will be announced here on the blog very soon… Also early in May, we announced LibreOffice 7.5.3 Community, the third minor update to the 7.3 branch. All users are recommended to upgrade. (We also announced LibreOffice 7.4.7, the last release of the 7.4 family.) LibreOffice’s YouTube channel went over the 3 million views mark. Great stuff! We’d like to say a special thanks to community members who’ve contributed great work, such as the Indonesian community for the “New Features” videos (major LibreOffice releases), and Harald B. in the German community for his tutorials. (Note that many of the videos are also available on PeerTube.) Our QA (Quality Assurance) community helps to identify and fix bugs in LibreOffice. Here’s our summary of updates, events and activities in the LibreOffice project in the last four weeks – click the links to learn more… We started the month noting Microsoft’s plans to raise the prices of its office software in Germany – and other services – significantly. And not just once, but every six months there are to be “price adjustments”. Of course, LibreOffice (and LibreOffice Technology-based products) comes to the rescue! Next up, we reported about our policy-related activities in the European Union. TDF is backing campaigns to support free and open source software (FOSS) in the EU – and raise awareness of problems with the “Cyber Resilience Act”, amongst others. Talking of FOSS, we looked at how free and open source software continues to grow, as shown by data provided by reports of analysts, and by declarations of users. Over 76% of IT managers have increased the use of open source software during 2022, while almost 22% have not changed the amount, and less than 2% have reduced it. Here’s our summary of updates, events and activities in the LibreOffice project in the last four weeks – click the links to learn more… We kicked off May with the Month of LibreOffice. This is an event that we run twice a year, awarding sticker packs (and the chance to win more merchandise) to everyone who contributes to LibreOffice. We posted an update later in May – and we’ll soon post the final results on this blog! During the month, we released two updates to the suite: LibreOffice 7.3.3 on May 5, and 7.2.7 on May 12. (The latter is the last release in the LibreOffice 7.2 series. Also, LibreOffice is now available to download on SourceForge. Next up: we posted various sections from our Annual Report 2021, which describes activities in The Document Foundation and our projects. First was LibreOffice Quality Assurance in 2021, followed by TDF’s infrastructure and Attracting new contributors to LibreOffice. In documentation news, the Czech community announced a translation of the LibreOffice Getting Started Guide 7.3. Many thanks to community members for all their work!
