During the LibreOffice Conference, The Document Foundation has announced:
- LibreOffice Online Prototype: you can watch a demo video at the following address:

LibreOffice Online is based on GTK+ framework and HTML5’s canvas, and has been developed by SUSE’s Michael Meeks, built on GTK+ broadway from RedHat’s Alex Laarson. - LibreOffice port project to Android and iOS, based on the voluntary work of Tor Lillqvist, a SUSE finnish developer know for having ported GIMP to Windows. The LibreOffice Android and iOS port has the objective of bringing the office suite to iPads and Android tablets, and eventually smaller devices. The user interface work has yet to start in earnest but the bulk of the code is compiling.
Please note that these are not products available to end users, but advanced development projects which will become products sometimes in late 2012 or early 2013.

I’m not using android. If there is, I will get Nokia N9/ keeping my N900 and wait till next acceptable Linux Phone. Or never, I just get to see Mobile Phone being replaced.

Rather than developing a version for mobile phones, why not develop the idea of the improving version “web” and make it compatible with mobile phones via their browsers? So people would be induced to use it
Ah, if only Sun had managed to get this right all those years ago in 1999, when they first announced StarPortal — an online and PDA version of OpenOffice. Unfortunately, neither the technology nor, I suspect, the world, were quite ready for it back then, and although the demos were impressive, it never got very far out of the starting blocks.

1st, I am very happy to see development of an Android app among others. 2nd, I hope this is a true app not requiring a connection. In this USA countryside it is all too often I loose 3G/4G service nor have internet for wifi. Either way this is great news.
That’s Great! Android port is very NEED! Many organisations using OpenDocument format, but still can’t use it on mobile devices ;(
